Council of Europe critical of UK government's Human Rights record


A damning report from the Council of Europe had drawn attention to the increasingly authoritarian ways of the Blairite government in the UK. Recently re-elected with the 'landslide' support of less than a third of the eligible voters, in common with its Thatcherite predecessors Blair's government shows, the Council of Europe report says, “a tendency increasingly discernible across Europe to consider human rights as excessively restricting the effective administration of justice and the protection of the public interest.” The report is not all bad news, however.
