Iceland threatens environmentalists with deportation

Twenty-one people from numerous countries who are in Iceland to take direct action against the environmentally-destructive and economically unnecessary Alcoa Dam are under threat of
deportation, despite having had charges brought at the time of their arrests dropped. Activists from Iceland and around the world set up a direct action camp in Eastern Iceland in July to stop the construction of the Karahnjukar hydroelectric mega-dam, which will destroy a large swathe of highland Icelandic wilderness.
