Stop GM maize: act now!

EU Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas has announced his decision to deny permission for the cultivation of two varieties of genetically modified (GM) maize, saying that GM crops should not be approved until new methods have been developed for assessing long-term risks and the effects on birds and butterflies. Naturally, however, other members of the Commission are horrified that Dimas has gone so far off-message as to forget that the Eurocracy exists to serve the interests of Europe's corporate capital, rather than its people. Dimas is under pressure to change his mind, so a little pressure in the other direction would not be amiss.
